Attractive succulent rosettes 60-120 cm in diameter' leaves 25-60 cm long, 12-18 cm wide obovate to lanceolate constricted near the base inflorescence straight to strongly curved, flowers red in bud, opening to yellow and orange fruit capsules, seeds black 5-6 mm long

Ornamental succulent. the leaves contain saccharine matter and saponins. Sap from the flower spike can be distilled into ‘Mescal’.
