ABOUT

A   Haven   of   biodiversity, Mazhar   Botanic   Garden is recognized for an unswerving commitment towards ensuring sustainable biodiversity for our planet and a healthy, green environment for generations to come.

STORY

Established in the 1950s, Mazhar Botanic Garden began as a garden for collecting various fruits and roses. In 1985, Ahmed Mazhar's focus expanded to include shading plants and the acquisition of rare plants. In 2009, an extensive collection was introduced to the garden, including palms, trees, shrubs, climbers, bamboo, Orchids, cactus, ground covers, perennials, Bromeliads, bulbs, indoor plants, ferns and aquatic plants.

Under the dedicated care of Shehab A. Mazhar, it became a family legacy, evolving into a comprehensive botanical garden, catering to all plant varieties. More than 2000 new plant species were acquired from abroad as seeds or saplings, and successfully propagated in well equipped 6 greenhouses, which were used to grow many different plant species at various environmental requirements, ranging from tender rainforest to desert succulents. Mazhar Botanic Garden has blossomed into both a sanctuary, and an invaluable resource. A gem to be treasured.
