Evergreen  sub shrub  60- 90 cm tall, spread 90-180 cm   leaves  succulent flowers white with pale purple stamens 
Edible flower buds. The immature flower buds are pickled and used as a flavouring in sauces, salads etc. The flower buds are harvested in the early morning and wilted before pickling them in white vinegar. Mature and semi-mature fruits are occasionally eaten as a cooked vegetable. used in Medicine for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and gout.
