Deciduous tree to 5-25  m tall, trunk may reach a diameter 10-14 m Leaves: palmately compound 5-7 leaflets  Flowers white, showy and sometimes paired, but usually produced singly at the end of a 15-90 cm long hanging stalk fruit large, conical, indehiscent, woody, seeds kidney-shaped with a 06 mm thick coat

Ornamental plants. The acid pulp of the fruit is eaten and made into drinks. An edible white, powdery, dry pulp found in the fully ripe fruit is very rich in vitamin C and B2 and makes a refreshing drink.
