Evergreen cluster-forming palm, grow up to 20 m tall leaves 40-90 cm long robust petiole, pinnate, slightly ascending, 6 m long, with irregularly toothed apex,  dark green above , silvery grey below, coriaceous, fruit ovoid 45 cm long, 3 cm of diameter, containing 1-3 blackish seeds

The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food and source of materials. The leaves are used for thatching and wickerwork.
