Tree like cycad grow up to 3 m tall and 35 cm in diameter leaves keeled shape, green light, 110-15 m long, leaflets lanceolate14-17 cm long, margin entire, apex thins to form  a robust spine, the basal leaves often reduced to spines male cones ovoid-shaped, pale yellow 30-40 cm long, 11-12 cm broad, female cones  ovoid-shaped,  42 cm long, 22 cm long seeds oblong covered by a red sarcotesta
