Ornamental evergreen dioecious tree to 9-12 m tall bark grey, reddish or pale gray  the crown is elliptical to oblong in shape and bronze color when young the crown turns a glossy dark green as it matures leaves simple, opposite, upward pointing, lanceolate-oblong-oblong flowers white to greenish, bloom on short stems fruit 4 cm long

 Excellent choice for salt-spray prone areas, as an or specimen tree. Ornamental for its interesting, glossy foliage and colorful fruits. The tree produces a fruit which is edible and has been described as being similar to Durian in flavor. The pale yellow to cream-white wood is hard. A good timber.
