Evergreen tree grows up to 40 m tall , 120 cm in diameter leaves bluish green, drooping, needle-like, in bundles of three, 20-30 cm long cone 10-18 cm long, 5 cm wide
Ornamental tree. Its good quality wood. It is cultivated as a timber crop in some other warm temperate areas such as S. Africa and southeast Australia. The seeds of all Pinus species are more or less edible, and some are of good size and make very tasty and nutritious foods, often eaten in quantitiy. Oil of turpentine, obtained from the oleo-resin of all pine trees, is antiseptic, antispasmodic, astringent, diuretic, rubefacient, stimulant and vermifuge.
The aromatic heartwood, is among the finest of pine woods, being hard, strong and durable.
