Evergreen or semi-deciduous tree grow up to 25 m high, 2 m in diameter trunk leaves ovate elliptic-lanceolate in shape with a blunt or acute tip figs 1-15 cm in diameter, light green, ripening red or purple

The raw or ripened fruits are used to make pickles.The trunk produces hard and high quality timber that is used to build furniture.
