Deciduous tree growing 20-35 m tall leaves  fan-shaped, 5-10 cm long, during autumn the leaves turn a bright yellow and then fall, sometimes within a short space of time (one to 15 days)Male plants produce small pollen cones with sporophyllus, each bearing two microporangia  spirally arranged around a central axis Female plants do not produce cones Two ovules are formed at the end of a stalk, and after wind pollination, one or both develop into seeds The seed is 15–2 cm long Its fleshy outer layer is light yellow-brown, soft, and fruit-like
