Evergreen small tree or shrub, 2-6 m tall leaves smooth, green, opposite, ovate to elliptic with a wavy leaf margin flowers small, pink , composed of 5 unequal-sized petals with frilly edges fruit globular drupe, 1-2 cm in diameter, containing 3 tiny seeds
