Evergreen tree up to 15 -20 m high leaves simple narrow-elliptical to oblong, measuring 7-15 cm long flowers fragrant,  pink or white in drooping racemes 30 cm long fruits green husks surround the hard smooth shells that enclose creamy-white nuts

Ornamental plant. Good shade. landscape. The eating quality of the nut is enhanced by lightly roasting it in coconut oil and salting.Sweet and delicious, the seeds can also be added to cakes, biscuits, ice cream etc.
