Evergreen small tree to 5-15 m tall leaves lanceolate, 10-20 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, pointed, base cuneate flowers in small terminal cluster, white or greenish white fruit drupe,  like the guava, fragrans, containing 1-2 seeds

Ornamental plant. the fruit rich in vitamin C. the wood is dense and according is used as a source of charcoal. some parts of the tree are used in regional traditional medicine. essential oils in the leaves are extracted by distillation and used in the perfume industry.
