Evergreen tree growing  up to 10 m high leaves pinnate, compound, with 6-12 leaflets, young leaflets reddish and hang limply handkerchiefs flowers in big dense clusters directly on trunk or branches, open yellow, aging to orange and red fruit legume
Ornamrntal plant. The ashoka tree is considered sacred throughout the Indian subcontinent. This tree has many folklorical, religious and literary associations in the region.
