Semi-deciduous small tree grow up to 10 m tall 1 m in diameter thorns are in pairs, below the leaf-stalk, compressed, recurved bark rough brown or greenish grey leaves compound 3-5 pairs, leaflets 12-5 cm long flower cream in form spike fruit pods flat 5-75 cm long flowers yellowish, borne in spike pods paper 5-7 cm long

Leaves are used as fodder by goats and camels. wood is used for making agricultural  implements and tool handles. firewood. fuel. hedge. Grinned gum obtained from the bark is used as tonic, stimulant and demulcent.
