Deciduous tree grow 15-20 m tall, 40-60 cm in diameter, leaves digitately similar to silk cotton tree flowers yellowish, small large fruits with 2 or 3 egg-shaped seeds

Ornamental plant. The root tubers are eaten in times of food shortage. The oil  extracted from the seeds, is used medicinally. strongly purgative. The light-coloured wood is light in weight porous with very crossed fibers but with a smooth cut.
