Deciduous tree grows up to 16 – 20 m tall leaves  simple alternate, palmately lobed, 15-30 cm across flowers small, fragrant, yellowish-green, in terminal inflorescences, 20-30 cm long fruit at first pod-like, the opening to leaf-like sections, pea-sized seeds on the margins
