Medium large deciduous tree, growing  to 30m tall, 1m in diameter leaves oval, 7-8 cm long and 45-10 cm broad flowers white to yellow , monoecious in terminal spikes or short panicles fruit  drupes, ovoid, ellipsoid, smooth, yellow to orange-brown in colour, with a single angled  stone

•This tree yields smallish, ribbed and nut-like fruits which are picked when still green and then pickled, boiled with a little added sugar in their own syrup or used in preserves. In traditional Indian Ayurvedic  medicine.
