Semi evergreen tree to 30 m high, 30-40 cm in diameter leaves simple, tomentose, obliquely cordate,  ovate-oblong, acuminate flowers yellow in terminal and axillary panicles fruit capsule oblong, woody tubercle
Soil:  found growing in both alluvial and clay soils
•Planted as an ornamental tree everywhere.
It yields a good fibre for rope making
