Semi deciduous tree grows up to 15-30 m high, bark grey to grey-brown leaves  arranged in a spiral formation clustered at the end of branches flowers white, sweet-scented, very small fruit woody capsules which split open with 3-4 valves, seeds brown wings at two ends
Soil:  Established plants are very drought resistant Coarse sandy loam to somewhat poorly drained clay Prefers neutral, deep, sandy loam soil that is well drained
•Wood tree.  Roadside tree.  The wood is highly appreciated for its attractive grain and its rich reddish mahogany brown color. Oil extracted from the seeds can be used for cooking in West Africa.
