Semi evergreen tree up to 24-27 m tall, spreading crown new leaves reddish pink and very pleasing to eye flowers syconium fruit : fig around 7-12 mm wide

Soil: tolerant of a range of soil types and extended dry periods, it prefers moist, humus rich soils with good drainage to develop best specimens

•Ornamental and shade tree along avenues. The tree is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine, food and source of wood and latex. It is sometimes cultivated, especially in S India and Sri Lanka as shade tree in coffee plantations.
