Evergreen tree up to 10-12 m tall, bark rough greyish leaves obovate to elliptic  flowers fragrant with five petals, have a yellow eye in the centre fruit smooth, round, apple-like, containing a single large poisonous seeds,  surrounded by thick  fibrous husk and a paper outer pulp
