Semi deciduous tree up to 10-50 m high, 2 m in diameter  leaves pinnately compound, grouped towards the end of branches, 15-50 cm long, leaflets lanceolate to oblong, 7-15 cm x 3-5 cm inflorescences bear numerous small, five-part, symmetrical greenish-white flowers

Soil: C odorata is not demanding of soil nutrients, tolerating soils high in calcium it prefers fertile, free draining, weakly acidic soil but tolerates heavy soil

Sometimes planted as an ornamental along roads and in parks. wood tree. the aromatic wood is in high demand in the American tropics because it is naturally termite- and rot-resistant. A good firewood species.
