Evergreen tree to 30 m high, bark papery leaves lanceolate to 12-17 cm long, greyish green, leathery flowers creamy white, bottle brush, in terminal spike fruit a capsule, cup-shaped or cylindrical 4-5 mm long

Ornamental tree. Roadside , Parks & Gardens, Small Gardens, Coastal, Riverine, Pond / Lake / River. The leaves are used to distill 'cajeputi oil' or 'tea tree oil' which has medicinal and antiseptic uses such as medical ointments.
