Evergreen small tree  to 91 m tall leaves oblong to oval, glossy dark green flowers yellowish fruits edible, dark green and prickly, ovoid30 cm long, fleshy, juicy, acidic, whitish and aromatic

Extensively used to prepare syrups, candies, beverages, ice creams and shakes. The fruit is a good source of vitamins B and C and a poor, to fair source of calcium and phosphorus. The most desirable characteristics of the fruit are its extremely pleasing fragrance and flavour.
