Deciduous tree to 18 m tall leaves bipinnately-compound with 2-6 pairs, leaflets elliptic to oval shaped flowers  white to yellow in a cluster raceme 12-30 cm long fruit pod woody, curved about 25 cm long contain red seeds

A very ornamental plant with fragrant, creamy flowers, it is often grown as a specimen and as a street tree. It is also grown as a timber crop, for its edible and medicinal uses, as a nurse crop for slower-growing species and as a shade tree for coffee and nutmeg. The flowers are pollinated by Insects . It can fix Nitrogen.
