Deciduous tree to 10-20 m high leaves digitatly trifoliate, leaflets narrowly elliptic to lanceolate flowers before the leaves, pinkish white, in terminal corymbs fruit a berry, globose or ovoid, yellowish-grey rind woody, scurfy, 4-5 x 25-35 cm seeds brown, embedded in pulp
