Deciduous tree growing 20-30 m tall the bark is usually pale grey-green leaves  thick, broad, palmately lobed (Maple-like) flowers borne in one to three (most often two) dense  spherical inflorescences on a pendulous stem, with male and female flowers on separate stems

Soil: medium to rich nutrient status and fresh to wet soil moisture However, it will grow on drier soils, and is  drought tolerant It is not suited to very wet or alkaline soils

•It is now extensively cultivated in most temperate latitudes as an ornamental and parkland  tree, and is a commonly planted tree in cities throughout the temperate regions of the world.. The  London Plane is one of the most efficient trees in removing small particulate pollutants in urban  areas.
