Solitary fan palm, monoecious, stem 20 m tall, 20 cm in diameter leaves almost circular, 2 m of diameter, divided till the base in 17-23 cuneiform segments,  petioles 1-25 m long, thin, equipped at the margins with blackish, 05 cm long thorns for about one third of the lengtht from bottom inflorescences 1-3 m long bear between the leaves, flowers cream hermaphrodite fruit ovoid or globular, 15 cm of diameter, orange or red when ripe

Elegant and majestic, with the great circular on long and thin petioles, would deserve a major diffusion as ornamental .
