Evergreen palm with a subterranean, grows  up to3 m in height, trunk 30 cm leaves fan-shaped, can reach 90 cm in diameter , shiny green to blue-green flowers creamy-white in large inflorescences up to 180 cm, which exceed the length of the leaves fruit rounded, dark brown to black, dry berry up to 10mm in diameter
