Single-trunked palm  to 30 m tall, leaves pinnate, large, up to 5 m long, ascending to spreading to drooping flowers yellow, fragrant, inflorescences spreading 12-16  long fruits ovoid up to 30 cm long, ripening from yellow to brown 

ornamental palm. coconut juice can be drank for thirst quenching and the flesh inside the hard shell can also be eaten. Coconut oil can be extracted from pressing the flesh (copra), shredded to make desiccated coconut and squeezed to obtain coconut milk.
