Solitary trunks, growing 8 m tall leaves: pinnate, compound (feathered) ranging from light green to bluish grey and growing 1,5-3 m long Petiole about 60-120 cm in length with spines along both edges,  Inflorescences: multi-branched ,flowers creamy, fragrant fruit: orange red, edible

Ornamental Palm. The fruits are locally harvested from the wild between November and February to make juices, liquor, marmalades and ice-cream. The fruit has orange, sometimes red, skin. The pulp is bright orange, highly aromatic, somewhat oily, and quite fibrous. The pulp can be frozen for industrial production. An oil can be extracted from the nuts which is quite similar to coconut oil. This palm is good for urban plantings and can also be grown at the beach behind dunes or other protection.
