Multi-stemmed, evergreen palm, forming a clump up to 3m tall, and 5 m wide leaves pinnate to 3 m long, with leaflets that are green above, silvery-white beneath inflorescences  about 05 m long, flowers yellow to orange, fragrant fruit spherical 1 cm long when mature After the fruits ripen, the stem on which they grew dies while other stems in the cluster continue to grow
