Evergreen climber  up to 9 m long, that grows from fleshy rhizomes leaves bright green, fleshy, shiny, 4-13 cm long flowers cream-coloured, small, fragrant on dependent racemes to 30 cm long

Ornamental vine. Madeira vine can be cooked by frying with olive oil and garlic. Once cooked, it tastes silky and yummy. It’s a great food to have as a vegetable side-dish. The plant is also utilized for its edible roots and leaves and its medicinal properties.
