commonly known as  Holy basil,  sweet basil, has been used as a traditional medicinal plant for the treatment of headaches, coughs, diarrhea, constipation, warts, worms, and kidney malfunctions, arthritis, eye diseases, indigestion, gastric ailments, etc.   Basil is the main ingredient for pesto sauce with olive oil, and it is also used to make pasta and pizza sauces.
