The plant may be eaten as  a leaf vegetable. All parts of Purslane are edible raw or cooked. The seeds can be eaten raw or used to make a flour. Purslane has been used as a folk medicine in many countries, acting as a febrifuge, antiseptic, and so forth. It exhibits a wide range of pharmacological effects, including antibacterial , anti-inflammatory , antioxidant , and wound-healing  properties.
