Small cycas with an underground or briefly emergent trunk rarely to 12 m tall leaves up to 2 m long, dark green with plenty of reddish tomentum especially on young leaves seeds egg-shaped, up to 3 cm long

It is an excellent species for growing in pots or as a bonsai.
