Dioecious species, arborescent cycad to 15 m high leaves pinnate arranged in a crown   at the apex of the stem, leaflets lanceolate,  sometimes with 1-2 spines on the upper margin and lower, male cone 1-4 cylindrical-ovoid, 25-65 cm long, 22 cm broad, light green, female cone 1-2 ovoid, 40 cm long, 25 cm across, seeds red ovoid 3-5 cm long
