Trunk 4 m high, 30 cm thick leaves dark glossy upper surface and paler under side,  pinnate 1-15 m long, leaflets  lanceolate, serrated edges, 18 cm long, 2 cm wide male cone one, yellowish-orange, cylindrical 40 cm long, 15 cm wide, female cone one, apricot yellow barrel-shaped 45 cm long, 30 cm wide, seeds glossy red
