Evergreen dioecious cycad, with an open rosette, growing up to 2-10 m tall leaves pinnate fronds, up to 180 cm long, leaflets narrow, armed with small teeth along their edges female cones very large, up to 75 cm long

Ornamental cycad. Harvest from the wild for local use as a food. In order to remove any toxins, the seeds are shelled, ground to a powder, then washed several times in running water. The end product is a flour-like substance that is almost pure starch, it used to make tortillas
