Stem upright and prostrate,  to 15 m high, 60-70 cm in diameter leaves pinnate  4-7 m long, 50-90 cm wide, leaflets to 50 cm long, leathery, margins with 9-15 teeth on each side, apex spiny male cones 2-6, ellipsoid female cones 2-4 ovoid, 35-45 cm long
