Evergreen cycad with an open  a terminal rosette , Palm like plants, dioecious, trunk up to 2 -3 m  tall, 15-20 cm in diameter, very stocky leaves pinnate 90-140 cm long, stiff, straight, gray-green female cone solitary, ovoid 25-29- cm long, densely tomentose male cone solitary, cylindrical 17-20 cm long, 6-75 cm in diameter, densely white or brownish gray tomentose

slow ornamental cycads.  Species in this genus form structures known as coralloid roots. These roots branch off from the taproot or secondary roots and are distinctive in that they grow laterally or upward, forming a nodular mass at the apex. These coralloid roots occur slightly below or slightly above the soil surface and generally contain cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae. These are able to fix atmospheric nitrogen and make it available as a nutrient to the plant.
